Depth Finder

i’m looking for a boat depth finder and speedometer?

i’m curious what the cheapest thing i could buy for my small boat to just tell me my speed and the depth of the water. i’m not looking for a fish finder, just something with a simple led display screen that can tell me those two things but something as cheap as possible like less than 50 bucks

I’ve looked allover the internet and can only find fish finders… anyone have and ideas?

You can measure the speed of your boat for less than $20. Buy the cheapest rope available. Then find a piece of driftwood. Then buy a swatch. Then tie the driftwood to the end of the line, and tie knots in the line at every 47′ 3″. Then throw the driftwood off the back of the boat and count the number of knots that go overboard during a 30 second period. This is your speed in knots. You do not need any LCD screen, or and such frivolous contraption. You are a sailor. As for finding the depth of the water, if you measure the part of your anchor chain that is wet, but does not have mud on it, you will find this to be the depth of the water.
