Daiwa Sealine
looking for a reel to go with my fenwick seahawk 8′ rated for 15-40 lb line.?
I was thinking about a daiwa sealine-x 40,shimano tld 15, or penn 500L for casting surface irons. Are these good reels?
The Daiwa x 40 is by far the best of the 3 reels for your application. It is the smoothest best Casting Reel, and has the line capacity to match up with your rod. The 6:1 gear ratio works really well when using surface irons, makes it easier to get the iron to work the way it’s supposed to. This reel has the best drag system also.
The Shimano TLD 15 star drag and the Penn 500 are good reels but won’t preform as well as the Daiwa. The 500L has no bearings just bushings and the drag is the smallest of all listed.
