Crawler Muskie
Do large Stripers hit half night crawlers usually?
I went fishing with my cousin today in Northern Jersey, he had half a nightcrawler on there and hooked onto something that streamed his line over 120 yards until it wrapped around the dock poles and snapped the line. He had a bobber set maybe two feet deep but had something large on. It could have also been a Walleye. I’m curious about the fish most likely was. There are also Pickerel, Pike, Large Mouth Bass, Carp, and Muskie in there (fish that could have streamed the line like that). Which fish would be more willing to hit on a half of a large nightcrawler?
The lake also has the main species of trout there (brook, brown, lake, and rainbow)
Catfish can grow really big, but carps grow really big just too,and for walleyes well they can get really big too,now perhaps a largemouth bass could have bitten the bait as well.
those are the species that are most likely to grab nightcrawlers.
Now stripers are most commonly caught on shad or perch
