what is a good bass fishing crank bait to use?
i lost my favorite crank bait that i got for christmas from basspro shops but im going fising tommorow so i cant order from them that quick.so i am fishing in water to deep as 8 feet and they dont really work all of the way down there.and i am in dark lake wate.its not see threw at all you can only see about 3 inches threw it wenits very sunny so i need a crankbait that doesnt go very deep and something that atracts the bass.and the water isnt going to be very warm so the bass arentvery active so what shuld i use if you dont think the crank bait will work.but id it will name a crankbait that will
Darrius, use dark colored crankbaits in dark water, stick your rod tip down into the water three feet this will allow your shallow running crankbaits to dive that additional 3 feet as well. Make your retrieve totally sporadic un natural and jiggle your rod tip along with starting and stopping the retrieve at thousands of different (never the same) intervals. This makes the bait look as if it’s having a tough time living and that triggers bass to bite even in cold water. Fish the north side of the lake, in little or big shallow bays and inlets and you’ll be in the lakes warmest water where the bass will be a little more active. Though my favorite cranks are rapala’s the fat rap, shad rap styles will produce spring bass early in the mornings in deeper narrower areas as well. This is where roaming bass will heard the shad to run them into a bait ball they can pick off stragglers from. Throw any curly tail grubs or lizards by split shotting them, use motor oil, cinnamon or red shad colors if you see any prespawn bed sitting males in those northern bays. Move them extremely slowly allowing them to sit for a minute between short spurts and movement. Keep your shadow off the water you are fishing and if from shore fish the close to sideline water from at least 10 – 15 feet back so you don’t spook the shallow fall in feeders that line every lake and pond.
