Baitcaster Fishing

I would like some recommendations for Baitcasting Fishing Reels.?

I would like to buy my dad a baitcaster for Christmas. What brands are good? Are any brands manufactured in the US? How much money should I expect to spend?

He fishes mainly bass and crappie from a pier or shore on a lake. He stores his rods in an outdoor shed, so a low-maintenance reel would be best for him.

Ardent has a fair number of baitcasters. they also have a couple models made especially for flipping.Ardent reels are made in missouri, right here in the USA.
l have one of the 1000 models that l have been using for between 2 – 3 years now and have no complaints with it. it is a 10 bearing model. there is a 400 and a 600 BC model also with 4 and 6 bearings in them.
l am using 10lb mono on mine and it casts as well as any of my curados.
the 1000 sells for around $250. it is worth the money. l give mine heavy use.
both denny and chad brauer (among others) are using the 1000 in winning many bassmaster tournaments.
