does a avet mxl mc cast far? and how good is the drag?

I’ve never used an Avet, but I believe they’re made in southern California for the type of fishing we do here, which is always a plus. They have good reputations for their drags. As far as casting, I’ve found that reel brand has much less to do with distance than does the length of the rod and the skill of the caster. I have a buddy who can heave a jig ten yards farther than I can, on his gear or my gear. Since Avet advertises easy casting for the MXL MC, I’d guess it’s as good as any: good bearings, and a lightweight, well-balanced spool. But the only way to tell for sure is to try one out.
