why doesn’t the military just drop an atom bomb on the cloverfield monster?

i mean, it’s kind of obvious (to me at least) if they were scared of killing people they can just lure it to a remote area and bomb it there. well if they did that then there wouldn’t be any story to tell anymore.

The military would never drop an atomic bomb on the Cloverfield monster. That would be stupid.

First of all, not all of the residents of New York City had evacuated yet, and dropping a deadly bomb would result in the murder of hundreds of thousands of people, even if it did get rid of the monster.

Second of all, an atomic bomb does long-term damage to the air and environment of the drop site, so New York City would never be able to be rebuilt again.

Third of all, how do you suppose the army could “lure” the monster away from the city? Reward it with fish treats?
